I’ve had to take some time off from the gym and heavy lifting for the past month because I re-injured my rotator cuff, so the blog…. and my workouts have suffered some. But of course, I’m never one to turn away from a challenge, so I had to get a little creative with my workouts and it actually forced me to focus a little more on my cardio and plyometrics, something I honestly hadn’t been doing.
For those of you who aren’t familiar with plyometrics, (also known as jump training), they are exercises in which muscles exert maximum force in short intervals of time with the goal of increasing power, speed and strength. I’ts never good to get injured of course but I’m a glass half-full guy, so I saw this as an opportunity to mix things up a bit and get creative.
I’ve alo been getting my cardio on at the beach and local parks. I even threw in some push ups and crunches to boot. I have to be honest and tell you, I love running, inside or out. It’s my favorite part of my cardio routine. In the gym on the treadmill or outside with the fresh air on a track or a trail….rain or shine!! It’s actually pretty therapeutic too.
S0 stay tuned to the blog as I’ll be posting and going over several plyo/cardio exercises that don’t require weights, or even a gym….just some open space and some drive & determination. Ok and maybe ome good music.
